Capital City Sports Juniors Beach Club |
Club Mission StatementI started playing volleyball in Columbus in the 1970's, central Ohio was already making headlines in the sport. The Central YMCA was home to the Columbus CAPS one of the elite men's teams in the nation, if you were a top player back in the day you made it a point to attend a practice at the Central YMCA where practices were more pick up volleyball games for the elite players of the day. The USA Olympic Men's team trained just down the road at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and the Ohio State Men's and Women's teams were national powers. I meet several Olympians and OSU players that made a tremendous impact on me and I would like to pay forward by offering the same inspiration to the Junior players of today. Sand volleyball offers a tremendous opportunity for juniors to improve their game by becoming proficient in all phases of the game. Instead of training to become the best front row or back row player like many players are forced to while playing the indoor game, you will learn to become proficient at all phases of the game. There are no try outs and no sitting the bench, when you play beach volleyball you play every match and every point. Sand volleyball strengthens your lower body and your core and the sand's shock absorption make injuries a lot less likely and less jarring than the indoor game. We will work our players on the skills of the game and also the strategy of the game. In addition we will teach you how to think on your feet. Rather than just going to a base position on the court every time you will learn how to think your way through a match and learn to pick up tendencies of your opponents to better defend your side of the court. We look forward to working with your young athletes, if you have any questions or concerns please contact us clicking the link below. Best Regards! Todd Zickafoose - Club Director Contact US
